ICN and ICLEI South America Announce Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Urban Sustainability

The International Cleantech Network (ICN) is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with ICLEI South America – Local Governments for Sustainability, a global leader in advancing sustainable urban development. This collaboration was officially launched during the ICN Annual Meeting and marks a significant step forward in connecting cleantech innovation with city-level implementation.

Who is ICLEI?

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments working to create sustainable urban environments. Active in over 125 countries, ICLEI supports zero-emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient, and circular development by fostering local action, influencing policy, and building capacity among municipalities and regions.

What the Partnership Means

This partnership between ICN and ICLEI South America is designed to bridge the gap between cleantech solution providers and local governments seeking practical, scalable, and innovative approaches to urban sustainability. Together, we will:

  • Develop joint projects and co-fundraising initiatives

  • Support innovation procurement and commercialization efforts

  • Connect ICN member clusters with local and regional governments

  • Facilitate access to new networks across continents

  • Advance shared goals for climate action and sustainable development

A Shared Mission

Both ICN and ICLEI believe that local action, driven by strong networks and innovative partnerships, is key to tackling global sustainability challenges. This partnership reflects a shared mission: enabling cities to become testbeds and launchpads for cleantech innovation, especially in regions facing growing environmental pressures and resource constraints.

Looking Ahead

With this new collaboration, ICN aims to empower its members to engage more deeply with local governments across South America and beyond. Cities and regions will gain access to leading cleantech solutions, while clusters and innovators will benefit from new pathways to implementation, visibility, and impact.

📢 The partnership was officially announced at the ICN Annual Meeting.
